Library Resources
Derby College Libraries provide access to a wide range of
resources to support your learning, and we welcome student
requests to help us enhance and develop our collections.
Physical Resources
Our libraries offer a varied collection of printed materials to
support both your course and wider reading.
These include:
• Academic texts and key reading relevant to your course.
• Books to support wider reading and independent study.
• Fiction and reading for leisure, including graphic novels,
Quick Reads, and our Read Well collection.
• Levelled reading materials and resources to support
developing reading skills.
• Accessible resources, including dyslexia-friendly formats
and large print books.
Once you start your course, you will be able to borrow physical
items using your student ID card. Items can be borrowed,
returned, and renewed either via the self-service kiosks or at
the library counters. You will be shown how this works as part
of your induction, with full details provided when you begin
your course.
Electronic Resources
Derby College Libraries also provide access to a wide range of
digital resources, allowing you the flexibility to study both on
campus and remotely.
These include:
• eBooks, providing online access to key texts and
further reading.
• eJournals, offering up-to-date research and
academic articles.
• Academic databases and subject-specific online resources.
Once you start your course, you will be shown how to access
and use these resources, including through the library’s
online platforms.
