Skills Hubs
You will have access to the College’s Study Skills
Hub and Digital Skills Hub, delivered through
Moodle as self-paced online courses. These provide
additional support to help you succeed in your
studies, covering topics such as:
• Academic study and research skills
• Referencing and academic writing
• Digital and IT skills for learning
As you work through the modules, you can achieve
Bronze, Silver, and Gold certificates, recognising
your progress and completion.
Library Engagement
Derby College Libraries provide opportunities for
you to engage with resources, explore new topics,
and take part in activities that support your studies
and wider reading.
Reading Challenge
Derby College Libraries run a Reading Challenge
each year to encourage students to read more and
explore a wider range of books. The challenge is
designed to support reading for enjoyment, helping
you build confidence and discover new authors,
genres, and topics. Opportunities to gain recognition
and rewards are available as you take part.
Library Displays
Throughout the year, libraries feature displays
highlighting resources linked to course topics,
themes, and key events. These displays are designed
to help you discover relevant materials, explore new
areas of interest, and engage with topics beyond
your core studies.
