Accessing College IT and Logging On
Logging in
Acceptable Use Policy
To access College IT systems, you will first need to log in
using your DCG account. If you are a returning student, please
use your existing password. If you are a new student, you must
change the default password. To do this:
Whenever you are logged on to the DCG network via your own
or a College device you must agree to the Acceptable Use
Policy. The main points of the policy are:
• Go to any College laptop, Microsoft application or the
MyDCG app and type in your DCG email address (sixdigit student number@student.derby-college.ac.uk) in the
username box.
• Type in your date of birth in the password box. This needs to
be in the format ddmmyyyy (e.g. 23021997).
• You will then be prompted to change your password.
These will be the details you use to log onto all college
systems. If you ever forget your password throughout your
studies, see the library and we can reset your password.
Multi- Factor Authentication
As part of the logging in process, you will need to set up
Multi- Factor Authentication (MFA), which adds an extra level
security to your account. You will need to verify your account
this way when not on the college network (e.g. logging on from
home). To set up MFA see the Student MFA Configuration
Guide. For support with this, see the library where we will be
able to assist you.
